Google Meet Enhances Pixel 9 Pro Fold Experience with Dual Camera Feature and AI Meeting Notes

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is receiving an exciting update to one of the software applications that strives to improve user experience during meetings. In the latest version of Google Meet, it is now possible for users to utilize both the internal and external cameras of the device at the same time while participating in video calls. Although this functionality was initially highlighted when the device launched in August, it is now becoming available through a recent update to Google Meet.

With the new Google Meet upgrade for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, which was first reported by Android Authority, users can take advantage of a distinctive capability on their device. This feature facilitates the simultaneous use of both the inner and outer cameras during a Meet session. This may allow various participants the opportunity to interact during a virtual meeting without having to crowd around a single laptop.

When activated, the front-facing camera allows others to see the user, while simultaneously providing a insight into the occurrences taking place in front of them. Google initially hinted at this feature during the launch of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in August, but its availability is only just beginning. The feature is expected to be offered to individuals who possess both personal and work-related accounts. Staff at Gadgets 360 confirmed its functionality on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.

In addition to this feature, last month the technology company based in Mountain View began introducing an AI capability called ‘Take notes for me’. As suggested by its name, this function uses Gemini, Google’s large language model, to summarize and transcribe key points during meetings. This feature was initially previewed the previous year and remained in beta until its rollout in August. It is indicated by a Gemini AI symbol found in the upper-right corner of the Meet interface. By default, it only notes but does not provide transcription. Users have the option to activate meeting transcription, resulting in a new document being created in the organiser's Google Drive.

This feature is accessible to Google Workspace users who possess Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or the AI Meetings & Messaging add-ons.
